SRB Rollerskis: When Only Best Is Good Enough

Wenn nur das Beste gut genug ist / When Only Best Is Good Enough.

That’s from the promo booklet of the top-of-the-line SR1 Skate rollerskis, but might as well be used as the motto for the whole company: SRB assures with a quality of production that stems from 135 years of expertise in toolmaking and impressive level of investment into manufacturing.

Arno Barthelmes & Co. GmbH first products were tuning forks – precision resonators, widely used in medical and musical industry – hence the company logo
Toni Escher, product manager SRB: We are the German brand and we concentrate on the German-speaking markets. The German national team in xcskiing and biathlon use our rollerskis – but so also do the Czech national team biathletes
SRB materially support 30 to 40 races per year and maintains a large competition/demo stock
SRB sells about 10000 pairs per year – that figure includes popular all-terrain rollerski a.k.a. “skikies”. The company plans to to expand to other markets – Scandinavia and China are the priorities
Escher: We plan on remaining a quality equipment maker – that’s the key for selling on discerning Scandinavian market

Top model SR1 has patented Wings suspension that increases torsional stiffness and lowers a center of gravity

SRB is one of the very few rollerski makers that also produces all-terrain models. Those are more expensive because they are more labor- and material-intensive. “But the customers see things differently, says Escher : for those you don’t need to buy expensive ski boots, could use your favorite sneakers. Also , rightly or wrongly people think that for asphalt rollerski you got to have a technique while all-terrain ones not so much, you just strap them on & go”
