World’s reigning U23 champion and the biggest Norwegian hope in distance skiing won’t be taking part in Toppidrettsveka that kicks off today.

Marte Mæhlum Johansen is fine herself – but someone at her university was diagnosed with Covid-19. And the Norwegian Ski Federation is taking absolutely drastic measures to prevent even a theoretical chance of its atheletes catching the virus.

Even the foreign athletes who reside in Norway (cue Musgrave, Young & Clugnet) are not allowed to train and compete with the Norway’s best this summer.

Toppidrettsveka won’t see the leaders, Johaug, Falla and Heidi Weng who are skipping one of the biggest summer get-togethers through overtraining. But Johannes Klaebo will be there, fronting of what essentially is his homeground competition.
