Most Important Part Of Skiing Event Is VIP Lounge. And Who’s Attending

Nadine Faehndrich efforts an incredible last-gasp lunge trying to beat Linn Svahn at the finish line. Right in front of the VIP lounge - see all those folks obseving from their vantage position? Creme de la creme of the Saxonian society was there, partying and watching skiing. Nadine and Linn are fantastic athletes but , in all due respect, hardly household names in Eastern Germany. These people came for an original form of Sunday brunch featuring elements of skiing. But it's their money (or their company's money) that paid for the show. Yes, it's oversimplification - human beings are somewhat complicated species , there are other elements at play. But the world is unmistakably moving in that direction - VIP lounges at football stadiums bring in more money, directly or…

Skiing Suffering From Acute Case Of Wrong Marketing?

Skiing Suffering From Acute Case Of Wrong Marketing?

Leaders, Newsfeed
What do most people associate the skiing with? Majority would conjure up images of snowy forests and all that stuff we're about to lose to global warming, man-made or otherwise. OK, not to lose - but it shrank already and looks like it would keep on shrinking. What do you see on the picture here? We'll tell you what, bluntly: a bunch of very muscular men at the prime of their lives, all ready, willing and able not only to run to the max but to push and shove if necessary. On eco-farmed snow. With hundreds of people on the stands drinking their beer watching the ski show with AC/DC tune blasting to the max. It's a show, ok? Nobody goes to an NFL match expecting to watch flag football.…

50k At Seefeld Was 2d Most Watched Program Overall In Norway In 2019

The epic battle between Hans Christer Holund and Alex Bolshunov at 50k in Seefeld World Championships brought one of the best television audiences for sports program ( which is, effectively, best audience overall) in Norway in 2019 Medien24 reports that 1,322,000 people tuned in to NRK to root for their countryman. That's about every third Norwegian older than 14. Four out of five most watched sports programs on the list were cross country skiing, ahead of football and very popular handball. Karsten Warholm ,a long distance runner, was the only one to get ahead of Holund, Johaug, Klaebo & Co in ratings as he was outpacing his opponents at Doha Athletics World.

NRK’s Nothingburger – Ustiugov Won’t Leave TdS For His Wife’s Labour

Newsfeed
NRK has made a good attempt to shock its audience: Sergey Ustiugov won't leave Tour de Ski in the event of his pregnant wife going into labour. Never mind the fact that Elena Soboleva's due date is at least a week past the final race of TdS. Never mind another little caveat that Sergey is now best positioned to win the series and thus take home some 55000 euros in prize money, not a bad paycheck for a crosscountry skier. Why is that surprising at all? In Russia men do not get themselves involved in baby delivery and their women actively do not want them to - ask anyone who ever lived in the country. Cramer is absolutely right - it is sacronsact duty & right of grandmothers-to-be (on both…

Alex Bolshunov Winter Victory Metal Is Forged In Summer

Leaders, Newsfeed
Winter victory metal is forged in summer. That or similar your coach probably used to tell you. And he was right. We couldn't stop telling you that at the top level money affect who wins: Norway, Russia and Sweden invest the most - and they win the most. Dedication and smart planning certainly helps. Case in point: while the rest went home to celebrate Christmas, the Russian team had an intense training camp in Toblach - and training on the same tracks where you about to compete always helps. But the core of the matter remains unchanged since the days of Gunde Svan ( and probably much beyond that): you have to train a lot. Time and again, through summer, autumn and winter we were lucky to observe how much…
