Redster S9 Gen S: One Size Fits All From Altenmarkt

Gear News, Newsfeed
Atomic Redster S9 Gen S are different, trust us. Right off the bat: if reading about "supreme stride efficiency" and "enhanced power transmission" is your thing in life - we'll direct you to the manufacturer's website , Atomic does a very good job of concocting good sounding and , no doubt ,scientifically supported things here We just give you a rather superficial impression with a bit of a practical twist: [caption id="attachment_17716" align="alignnone" width="1920"] - they are really one-size fits-all. Atomic brands them as 183 cm but in reality it's more like 175. Which means you won't have any trouble fitting it into your VW Golf[/caption] [caption id="attachment_17720" align="alignnone" width="1920"] - being so short they feel fit for all sorts of off-tracks exercises and are extremely nimble on downhills of…

New ( Fancy) Poles In Town

New ( Fancy) Poles In Town

Gear News, Newsfeed
"...Johnny-come-lately The new kid in town Everybody loves you So don't let them down.." We are not entirely sure Don Henley was singing about Nordic ski poles - but he might as well, because it's rather fitting. Two established gear makers have overcome their lingering doubts and are putting on the market true-race ski poles this season. Bones Sport is a text-book story of a company that cut its teeth in mass-market segment and now steadiiy increases quality (and pricetag) of its offerings. Earlier this year the Spanish producer presented Graphene rollerskis - a fantastic piece of engineering with a jaw-dropping price tag (and very difficult to lay your hands on). With Ultron Bolskan the company from Huesca is making another claim to the slice of the premium, race market.…

Skiing Of Tomorrow: Indoor, With Wall Projection Panels Instead Of Dreary Looking Walls

Skiing Of Tomorrow: Indoor, With Wall Projection Panels Instead Of Dreary Looking Walls

Gear News, Newsfeed
We have two revelations to make: A - in the foreseeable future most of cross country skiing will move indoors. Yes, indoors - into those purpose-built ski tunnels. If you're optimistic enough to think otherwise - or lucky enough to live in certain areas in the mountains - our compliments. The rest of the humanity, spurred by the (correct) assumption that cross country skiing is the next-to-none cardiovascular and strength-building activity, will have to practice it indoors. B - skiing in tunnels as a way of receiving pleasure currently sucks. First ski tunnels were built far away from big cities but close to traditional training centers: Vuokatti, Torsby and Oberhof all fit that description. Practical? Check! Convenient? Depends on your idea of convenient, but generally no. No more. Toksovo is…

One Small Step For Apparel Maker, One Giant Leap For Mankind

Gear News, Newsfeed
In 2020 the most important piece of gear for cross country skier is...not skis - smartphone! Assume you all agree that's an axiom and thus doesn't need proving: enough to look at the strength/ speed with which hitherto dead-tired young men and women rush for their phones once their race or training session is over. Sure, there a sect within the community that believes that skiing time IS the time to unwind and take a break from that "connected life" - but its numbers are rapidly dwindling. The masses roar:"Nothing gets between me and my smartphone - ever!" Jokes aside, unless you happened to be a world class skier who is nearly always accompanied by coach/ support personnel on car/ bike, you do need a smartphone - to play your…
