Young Norwegian Star Not Allowed To Take Part In Toppidrettsveka

Leaders, Newsfeed
World's reigning U23 champion and the biggest Norwegian hope in distance skiing won't be taking part in Toppidrettsveka that kicks off today. Marte Mæhlum Johansen is fine herself - but someone at her university was diagnosed with Covid-19. And the Norwegian Ski Federation is taking absolutely drastic measures to prevent even a theoretical chance of its atheletes catching the virus. Even the foreign athletes who reside in Norway (cue Musgrave, Young & Clugnet) are not allowed to train and compete with the Norway's best this summer. Toppidrettsveka won't see the leaders, Johaug, Falla and Heidi Weng who are skipping one of the biggest summer get-togethers through overtraining. But Johannes Klaebo will be there, fronting of what essentially is his homeground competition.

"Es wird keine Geister-WM geben!"/"There will be no ghost World Championships! " That was a reaction by the organizers when they were recently asked whether holding the event without spectators as a worst-case scenario is under consideration. Just to remind you, the FIS World Ski Championships 2021 in Oberstdorf is scheduled to take place from February 23 to March 7, 2021. Injected Carbon Fiber VS Traditional One. Salomon And Alpina Disagree

Injected Carbon Fiber VS Traditional One. Salomon And Alpina Disagree

Gear News, Newsfeed
When Salomon Nordic rolled out their latest S / Lab Carbon Skate boots last year, there were some questioning looks: where are carbon fiber cuffs? They are there - except that are made very differently. Traditional carbon fiber is woven, laid up, and then “glued” together with resin that needs to be cured - a time/effort consuming process that requires considerable skill. The result is amazing, however: anything & everything where the cost is no object is being produced that way, from uber-fancy icepicks to intercontinental ballistic missiles. With injected carbon the process is far simpler and consist of the short, “chopped” carbon fiber strands being mixed with other thermoplastics at certain temperatures. The resulting product ( cuffs in our example) is significantly cheaper. But is as good as the…

In Interesting Twist, Company Actually Offers Northug Cooperation

Newsfeed
In the last few days we've heard a lot of either rather high-handed, righteous criticism or generic offers of support for embattled Petter Northug. Now there is a company that came out with what effectivly amount to public offer of cooperation: " Driving under the influence of drugs is ...dangerous and altogether wrong thing to do ....Northug must repent and be punished in accordance with the law" reads a press-release (Instagram post, actually- but whoever is using any other means of communication these days? ) "....But leaving the great Norwegian without support at such a moment, turning away from him or even sitting on the fence in anticipation, as some of his partners are doing now, is wrong. The damage will be done not only to the champion himself, but…

Partner Decides To Abandon Northug, Others Standing By Him, Yet Most Are Still Deliberating

The fallout from Petter Norhtug's "cocaine affair " has began. Sponsors, partners and employers had to start their weekend with a serious head-scratching:do we keep association with the most popular skier ever-ever - or do we sever it? There's more than a business future of multimillionaire Petter Northug at stake, however: There are two distinctly different Northugs: the person and the brand that was launched last year and majority-owned by Petter The person works as a commentator at the national TV2 channel, appears as a motivational speaker ( in a broad sense of the word), writes books and promotes causes &companies as an ambassador. The brand sells upper-shelf sports glasses and was about to launch an apparel collection. It also sponsors a number of athletes and sport teams including but…
