Valentina Vuerich: Remember To Always Dare

Memento Audere Semper - "Remember to always dare". The quote from Gabriele d'Annunzio' poetry graces one of Valentina " Vale" Vuerich's arms. Very fittingly. Vale is a remarkable figure in the international skiing for several reasons each of which warrants a story about her: - she is one of a very, very few ski servicewomen on the international scene - and, likely, currently the most successful of them all as her personal athlete, Anamarija Lampic just had a fantastic season. We all know that the xcskier's success is always build on quality of her/ his skis. - a former athlete herself, Valentina is a lot more than a ski technician. She is a training partner and, judging by amounts of smiles & giggles, one of the close friends to her…

Holmenkollen Organizers Still Owe Prize Money To Karlsson, Bolshunov & Co

Newsfeed
The organizers of Holmenkollen Ski Festival are yet to send the latest winners of the storied race the checks they are entitled to. Last month Holmenkollen 30/50k produced some of the most exciting races of the last season with Frida Karlsson and Alexander Bolshunov beating the host nation stars in front of the traditional massive crowds. There was just one problem with that " crowds" definition: those were non-paying citizens exercising their free-access rights alongside the tracks in the forest. The terraces of the large Holmenkollen stadium remained empty on early coronavirus fears - likely rightly so from what we now know about how the disease spread. For the organizers, however, it was a nightmare: having to bear all the costs associated with holding a FIS World Cup event with…

Alpina Gets Prestigious Design Award For Elite 3.0

Gear News, Newsfeed
The Alpine Elite 3.0 boots line just received arguably the world's highest appraisal in the field of industrial design: Red Dot Product Design Award. It's a big deal, the covered Red Dot is often seen gracing promo pictures of the winning models. To give you an idea: apart from Alpina 3.0s, the award this year also went to AirPods Pro and IPhone 11Pro to name but a few. To put it bluntly, the Red Dot is turning a product into a coveted symbol of its owner's ...coolness? taste? deep pockets ( it only goes to top-of-the-line products in range)? all of the above? Well you decide, but we are totally in support of that trend when you buy because you dearly want that thing, not just because you find it…
