Swedish Telecoms Giant Pays Crazy Money For Champions League And Why Is It Relevant

Money & Finance, Newsfeed
Telia, Swedish telecommunications giant and owner of several media platforms just bought the UEFA Champions League television & streaming rights for three years starting from 2021. You know how much Telia paid? SEK 1 billion per year - that's just shy of 92 million euros! That's for Sweden only. The previous rights'holder, NENT Group, reportedly paid less for the whole Scandinavian region I.e. Denmark, Norway and Sweden. 92 million euros / year to show some soccer in the country that doesn't have much representation in the tournament and certainly stands no chance of ever winning it! Why is this news on cross country skiing resource? First, to make a comparison: we don't think SVT, Swedish public broadcaster and Telia's top rival for audiences' eyeballs pays more than 5% of that…

Introducing My Sponsors: Lisa Unterweger

Money & Finance, Newsfeed
Continuing "Introducing my sponsors" series. Lisa Unterweger from Team Austria is blessed to have the whole team of supporters behind her: I am very lucky with the team supporting me. There are three main sponsors in the #teamuw, as I call it. https://www.instagram.com/p/BuHbCwvHN-8/?igshid=128oqo30crary Of course the biggest one is my "headband sponsor“ the Olympiaregion Seefeld. Guess there is no further explanation necessary, as we all know it from the FIS Nordic World Championships in 2019. I’ve been cooperating with them for 2 years now and it was a huge honor for me to start at the World Championship at home, with the host as a partner at my side. I was really proud to represent them. But my relationship with Seefeld in Tirol goes far more back than that. In…

Spring, Skiers, Singles…

Newsfeed, Trivia
Podrán cortar todas las flores, pero no podrán detener la primavera! ”You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep spring from coming!” That beautiful quote from Pablo Neruda (on a very different occasion) eerily relevant in describing what we got outside our windows this year. Being stuck at home is hardly romantic. Silver lining? Great time for dreaming! Let's just clarify a fee things: - Single is in " single boy". Analyzing girls eligibility for dating is oh-so-twentieth century! In short - go figure out yourself, we shan't tell you. - Shirtless post on Instagram is a must - nobody wants to dream about some shivering in a cold rando. Decidedly unsexy. Even for a skier. - You might be surprised by acute absence of Russian skiers, ditto…

Introducing My Sponsor: Patricija Eiduka And Merks

Money & Finance, Newsfeed
..we continue our "Introducing my sponsor..." series and give the floor to Patricija Eiduka from Team Latvia I am 20 and I am the only female skier from Latvia who takes part in the international skiing competitions. The last season I've earned my career-first FIS points by finishing in Top 30 in Nove Mesto World Cup stage. I also won the international competition in Sweden and came 4th in 15k race  at the Juniors World Championships.  All of that would hardly be possible without my  biggest supporter and sponsor. Merks is one of Latvia's biggest real estate developers, they are a large company with many projects going. This is the second year of our cooperation and their support significantly helps me with important but costly training items - like, say, altitude training…

Klaebo: Process And Result. Plus A Bit Of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Newsfeed, Trivia
This week Johannes Klaebo delighted his fans by streaming his indoor workout session. 60000+ views from 45 countries - that's more interest than some of pro-races generate (unless Klaebo and Bolshunov are in it, of course )! https://youtu.be/cjaeuZ4Tr_M We are of a firm opinion that most viewers were watching and repeating the Olympic champion' moves not in vain hope of overtaking him on sprint ski tracks (just ask Federico Pellegrino or aforementioned Alex Bolshunov what THEY think of chances of that happening!) No, the real reason the Youtube army of Klaebo fans was watching is because they want to have , well, the bod like him. At least a passing semblance. Sadly, Mr.Klaebo does not himself believe that he is in competition with one Portuguese footballer in popular since Antiquity…
