The international ski season still looks ...how shall we put it? Iffy? But that doesn't mean it won't happen at all. We talk to the Dresden's competition spokeswoman Daniela Möckel who explains what the optimism is based on: [caption id="attachment_17039" align="alignnone" width="1920"] Daniela Möckel with the last season's Team Sprint winners[/caption] The International Ski Federation and the German national ski association, DSV, aim to hold a normal sport winter including the well-known World Cup events. XCSki Dream Job – Explained

...You obviously noticed them guys with enigmatically looking SRS letters on their bibs, that are a fixture of any FIS World Cup stage. Looking trim and fit enough to be taking part in the races themselves, they are most often seen doing what looks like interval training , visibly oblivious to the hustle & bustle around them. Those are "company test pilots" - the people who help develop & test world's most advanced skis at any given moment in time - and prototypes for the future big events. Their job is easy to define yet extremely difficult to implement: to make sure that their firm's athletes have absolutely best skis at all times. The skis that will sail them to the podiums. "Es wird keine Geister-WM geben!"/"There will be no ghost World Championships! Injected Carbon Fiber VS Traditional One. Salomon And Alpina Disagree

Gear News, Newsfeed
When Salomon Nordic rolled out their latest S / Lab Carbon Skate boots last year, there were some questioning looks: where are carbon fiber cuffs? They are there - except that are made very differently. Traditional carbon fiber is woven, laid up, and then “glued” together with resin that needs to be cured - a time/effort consuming process that requires considerable skill. The result is amazing, however: anything & everything where the cost is no object is being produced that way, from uber-fancy icepicks to intercontinental ballistic missiles. With injected carbon the process is far simpler and consist of the short, “chopped” carbon fiber strands being mixed with other thermoplastics at certain temperatures. The resulting product ( cuffs in our example) is significantly cheaper. But is as good as the…

FIS Congress Postponed Till May 2021

Leaders, Newsfeed
Late on Friday , July 31st, the FIS has published an announcement: already once postponed Congress will now take place in May-June 2021. It's significant. The 52th Congress was initially scheduled to take place in Thailand in May 2020 and was provisionally moved to October this year. It wasn't an ordinary affair: the incumbent president of the International Ski Federation was supposed to step down and the new leader of the snow sports on this planet to be elected. When Gian-Franco Kasper took the helm Klaebo and Bolshunov were learning how to walk and Frida K. wasn't even born yet. A lot had changed since 1998 - and candidates to replace the 76 year old Swissman were floating vastly programs on where and how to proceed onwards. With the Congress…
