Here’s To First 10k On Instagram!

The Daily Skier has reached 10k followers on that must-have social media network of our times, Instagram. Gives us an excuse to both thank our followers/ readers and to reiterate our credo: We launched the Daily Skier to entertain while informing, in that order. If you find our content to be tabloidy that's because it is. We like watching competitions but our focus is on showing top athletes - as well as other players in the industry - as humans, characters, individuals. So, you are much more likely to see them on @Daily_skier before or after the race, rather than in it. Valnes, 23, is currently second in the World Cup Sprint rankings, behind only Johannes Klaebo

World's most decorated and, arguably, most popular skier has come out in support of changing the format of the Holmenkollen race. VG reports that Johannes has expressed concern about dwindling numbers of competitors - France, for instance, lists none - and the toll a brutal 50k race takes on all participants, affecting their chances in overall World Cup fight. Conversely, it would be Klaebo's arch-rival Alexander Bolshunov who completely disagrees. After all, it was him who won it in style last year https://www.vg.no/sport/i/BR1jL0/sprinttrener-monsen-dropp-femmila-i-holmenkollen

Justyna Kowalczyk About Izabela Marcisz And Rest Of Her SuperSquad

Leaders, Newsfeed
This is Part 2 of our conversation with Justyna Kowalczyk. Part 1 is to be found here Regarding that "Super Squad" moniker we keep on attaching to Ms. Kowalczyk's team: It's invented by us. After watching the young Polish skiers under the tutelage of Alexander Wierietielny and Justyna Kowalczyk train & compete in several locations throughout the year, the name "Super Squad" sprung to mind - and we feel it's highly appropriate. As far as we know, nobody ever tried that: selecting a few very promising skiers in their mid-teenage years and working on turning them into a world-class athletes, year after year, race after race, camp after camp. We are not privy to details but are certain that it takes Kowalczyk' status with sporting authorities and sponsors to pull…
