Northug’s Personalized Bib Being Auctioned Off. Check Out Lucky Number

Newsfeed, Trivia
Trust Petter Northug to give media an excuse to write about himself – even the smallest thing presents an opportunity that we can't pass. Case in point: Northug's memento from  the Ugra ski marathon in Russia which the King of Skis had honored by his presence earlier this year. In Siberia Petter sang Happy Birthday to Sergey Ustiugov ( also present), was flogged with "banny venik" or birch tree broom in a Russian "banya" or steam sauna... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdythgLMFeQ And, last but not the least, have made a request for a personalized race bib number. Number 69. Petter Northug Jr. Now the race organizers are holding an online raffle for that personalized bib ( with a word “personalized” stressed – naturally) Either because of his fiery performances on track, or because…

IOC Suspends Second Russian Olympic Champion In One Week But Russia Gets To Keep Golden Medal

IOC Suspends Second Russian Olympic Champion In One Week But Russia Gets To Keep Golden Medal

Leaders, Newsfeed
The situation with the Olympic doping in cross country skiing is getting more and more difficult to comprehend. Last week Alexander Legkov had lost his Olympic Golden medal for the 50k race thus – formally – ceding the title to the second placed Maxim Vylegzhanin, both of Russia. But not for long. Because today the IOC's Oswald Commission had disqualified Vylegzhanin as well – and then the Golden medal goes to...Ilia Chernousov of Russia, who came third. How does this bode with the allegations of the "Russian state sponsored doping program"? Was it only for certain athletes on the Russian team, but not for the others? The IOC decision appears to be based almost exclusively on  the so-called McLaren Report, which does not seem to explain or even address "the…

Newsfeed, Travel & Mass Sport
If you are happened to be a tiny bit bored with your endless rollerski laps or run-repeat sets, make sure you ask intrepid Fredrik Erixon to come up with something original to prepare you for the ski marathon of your life. Erixon is a worldwide pioneer of the "executive ski club" concept. Now he takes his skiers one step further - to the cruise ship, literally, in something called the Baltic Sea & Ski Camp.  For two days those lucky few who are both willing and able to fork out SEK 1417 ( about 150 euros) will enjoy all on-board luxuries of a floating palace called Viking Cinderella ( and yes, there many – trust us) – and then sweat it all out hard way under the guidance of the…

The end of October is a time when Skatteetaten or the Norwegian tax service publishes personal income declarations of country's citizens. Unlike most of the other nations where such an information is seen as deeply private, in Norway ( as in Sweden and in Finland) it is considered vital for society's health and openness to make it public. ...Thus giving the Nordic media – and through their efforts all interested – a chance to glean how much money the top stars of cross country skiing really make. UpDated: Rollerski Mallorca And Keeping Up With World Best Skiers

Leaders, Newsfeed
UPDATE Sept. 2018 ...Kind of hard to believe, but almost a year has flown by since Team United Bakeries director Bernhard Rønning and the boss of Rollerski Mallorca, Manu Rullan came up with the idea as brilliant as it is simple: Allow amateur skiers into a professional skiing team camp. To train, live and even eat their meals together with some of the planet's best long distance skiers: Tore Bjorseth Berdal, Stian Hoelgaard, Astrid Øyre Slind, Torleif Syrstad and, of course, triple Vasaloppet winner John Kristian Dahl. Team United Bakeries had since become Team Koteng. But the idea really took off. This October Rønning & Rullan cordially invite skiers to join them on island of Mallorca again in late October for one-of-a-kind experience. And no, this is not an advertorial.…
