Oslo’s First Ski Tunnel Opens, Got Rothe And Holund To Promote It

Finland has Vuokatti (and more), Sweden has Torsby. Russia has Toksovo and Germany has Oberhof. See which nation is strangely missing on that list of ski tunnels? Well, no more. At the beggining of June the Norway's first ski tunnel has opened its doors at Lørenskog, just outside Oslo. https://www.instagram.com/p/B_PdvX0AeY6/?igshid=1eso20fx3c6h2 Snø is different from the other tunnels - it is based on a completely different concept. And it is probably aimed more at the slalom / snowboard crowd. Which doesn't mean it's not a proper training spot for a serious crosscountry ski fan or even a pro. "1-kilometre skating…

We are a sports publication and intend to stay clear from whatever political stories - that's not what you expect here, anyhow. However, when the story is so big that the stars of the Nordic start to reflect upon the events unfolding, we can't quite stay away and offer a gist of what was said by them in the last few days: Jessica Diggins was born in Minneapolis-St. Paul and was supposed to become the face of the first-ever Minneapolis FIS World Cup event. Alas, that one was cancelled at the last possible moment and Minneapolis 2020 shall be remembered for entirely different reasons. Given, Diggins is the only true star the US xcskiing got, she gets national media attention and is fully aware that her every word in the…

The hyper-meticulous in his preparations Swede vs...well, you all read his book so you already know how the Norwegian was at times preparing for his. If only we could see them compete against each other! Well, guess what? We could. Soon! Landskampen is back. The first season's featured two countries' best skiers and biathletes and was loved by the public. Yes, the Landskampen viewership figures beat those of all but the most popular actual skiing races. The corona pandemics , clearly, affected the planning & filming of the show's new season. Instead of scenic Greece it will now be filmed in Norway. Says Anders Sæther, Landskampen creator & showrunner: “We all look forward to producing the second season…

Blinkfestivalen 2020: Out Of City Center, No Spectators And No Foreign Athletes. But With Lysebotn Uphill And Norwegian Stars

Blinkfestivalen, one of the world's best organized, best funded and best attended xcski/biathlon events will be held this August but out of town and with massively altered program. With large crowds banned, the competition is now mostly held for the sake of television broadcast. A long time must-have for the national broadcaster NRK, Blink is coming to the rest of Europe this year for the first via EBU (but biathlon races only - the European Broadcastng Union is interested in promoting biathlon, doesn't care about xcskiing) The venue of the Blink events is now Sandnes Arena. Which is not a bad thing at all, neither from athletes point of view, nor television viewers'. The newly built 4.2k facility with a full-size shooting range might be the best rollerski track stadium…
