Introducing My Sponsors: Lisa Unterweger

Continuing "Introducing my sponsors" series. Lisa Unterweger from Team Austria is blessed to have the whole team of supporters behind her: I am very lucky with the team supporting me. There are three main sponsors in the #teamuw, as I call it. https://www.instagram.com/p/BuHbCwvHN-8/?igshid=128oqo30crary Of course the biggest one is my "headband sponsor“ the Olympiaregion Seefeld. Guess there is no further explanation necessary, as we all know it from the FIS Nordic World Championships in 2019. I’ve been cooperating with them for 2 years now and it was a huge honor for me to start at the World Championship at home, with the host as a partner at my side. I was really proud to represent them. But my relationship with Seefeld in Tirol goes far more back than that. In…

..we continue our "Introducing my sponsor..." series and give the floor to Patricija Eiduka from Team Latvia I am 20 and I am the only female skier from Latvia who takes part in the international skiing competitions. The last season I've earned my career-first FIS points by finishing in Top 30 in Nove Mesto World Cup stage. I also won the international competition in Sweden and came 4th in 15k race  at the Juniors World Championships.  All of that would hardly be possible without my  biggest supporter and sponsor. Merks is one of Latvia's biggest real estate developers, they are a large company with many projects going. This is the second year of our cooperation and their support significantly helps me with important but costly training items - like, say, altitude training…

This Is How Much Norway Spends On Its National Team

It would be more correct to say "was". In interview with Aftenposten the figure was made public: In 2019 the country's national team including Paralympic , junior and , of course, main cross country squad cost some NOK 92 million - or around 9.3 million euros using then-exchange rate. Now the Norwegian dominance in Seefeld-2019 and in the World Cup has an actual price tag. Cross-country ski managers coaches and athletes in other countries would chuckle, wistfully - it's far above other teams' budgets. This year, however, it would go down by at least 20% - that's already known & budgeted-in loss of sponsorships so far...

Dear Skiers, It’s Time To Get Off Your Butts And To Start Making Yourselves Useful To Sponsors!

The coronavirus pandemic isn't just affecting the health of many — it the first event since the influenza pandemic some 100 years and the both world wars that actually affects all or almost all of us. The economies are crushing and even if there would be a rebound after the end of the crises one thing is certain: Get this: the first item on expense sheet to be cancelled or absolutely minimized would be pro-sport sponsorships. For virtually all companies - with possible exceptions of those in groceries sector or teleconferencing , those seem to be doing relatively well under circumstances. We profess that there will be an unprecedented battle for remaining euro, dollar and krona among all athletes, not just skiers. And many if not all sponsors would ask…

Big Sponsor Helps Norwegian Skiing Out Of Financial Hole, But Changes Are Dire

- In a full turnaround Sparebank1 re-signed as a main sponsor of the Norwegian ski federation. It's a lifeline: previous info suggested that they would not extend the deal leaving a gaping hole in the Team Norge finances. The deal is worth NOK 10mln per year for two years. At the current exchange rate it's around 870k euros - a year ago it would be more like 1 million euros. With a lot of expenses - travel, lodging etc. denominated in euros, it's still a significant decline, but it should be enough to cover team's basic needs in the competition season of 2020/21. - At the same time, big departure from previous policies announced. Hitherto almost all the sponsorship was done on centralized basis and was the strictest known in…
