Feeling Of Skiing – How Marwe Rollerskis Are Made

Gear News, Newsfeed
Marwe Sports needs no long introduction. The company had long established itself as a golden standard in rollerski making, and when it talks of "feeling of skiing" - it's more than a corporate slogan, it's something many a national team, both in xcskiing and biathlon, can attest to. In order to understand how, in our rapidly changing world, Marwe manages to remain such a symbol of quality - and fun - the Daily Skier has traveled to the birthplace of Marwe skis. Well, two places, actually. Because flagship Marwe skis, 620 XC are assembled in two locations. Here's what we found & learned. ...Marwe's marketing manager Paul Fletcher inspects a plywood/Nomex combo core of the future rollerskis at the Peltonen factory in Heinola where all composite platforms are made. World’s Best Abdominal Muscles, Pictured And Explained

Leaders, Newsfeed
On the photo above is a great looking washboard stomach. A skier's stomach ( of course - otherwise, why would it be here, on the xcskiing site?). A perfect combination of beauty - and function. ...It was in the 1990s when Professor Bengt Saltin made a discovery: with each generation, muscles of cross country skiers are growing. Although aerobic capacities have improved only marginally over the years, the strength and muscular endurance of the upper body of cross country skiers have become dramatically better . Famed scientiest, FIS expert etc. etc., Saltin had an extensive experience working with Swedish elite cross-country skiers. His conclusions: elite XC skiers of the 1990s demonstrated 15–25% larger fiber areas, especially in their arm and core muscles, than their counterparts of the 1970s! Fast forward 20…

Gear News, Newsfeed, Training & Outfitting
Questions that you always wanted to ask - now answered by the Madshus pros: - Bjorn Ivar Austrem, R & D director - Per Wiik who runs both racing and marketing departments – and Nils Hult, Madshus CEO himself: https://www.instagram.com/p/BjzuCvLg6Nd/?taken-by=daily_skier - We all all know there are great skis and not-so great skis. Some ( many) medals were won even in the last season not on the newest skis, but on those 2-3, even 5 years old ( not specifically Madshus – we are talking all leading manufacturers here) How come ”great skis” can't be replicated en masse? - There are, obviously, external factors such as different snow, humidity, altitude etc. etc. But let's assume there are skis that “just run great always” as per their happy owner. There are…

Norway, Biri, Madshus – Part 1

Gear News, Newsfeed

It likely also is the world's most modern – at least one of, considering the amount of ( hugely expensive ) robots employed at the production line in Biri, some 30 kilometers from Lillehammer. https://www.instagram.com/p/BkxUS18Azdp/?taken-by=daily_skier When you purchase Madshus, you become an owner of much more than a pair of skis. Norway is one of the most expensive countries in the world for manufacturing – that's the price the business pays for highly skilled work force and stringent ecological regulations.…
