Bolshunov will need at least 10 days to fully recover due to dental problems

Alex Bolshunov didn't have a good training camp in Ramsau. We at Dailyskier.com adhere to a policy of not reporting on skiers' health issues that we learned of until/ unless their teams decide to make them public. On Saturday Bolshunov's coach Yuri Borodavko did just that: the World Cup winner couldn't train properly due to pain and fever caused by a dental cyst or an inflammation of tissue in the gum. Bolshunov flew from Austria to Moscow where he was operated on Friday. On the photo above you see Bolshunov, his wife Anna and coaches Borodavko and Artyom Zhmurko discussing options while still in Ramsau Team Russia head physician Roman Erlikhman told TASS news agency that surgery went well and Bolshunov's participation in the first World Cup stage in Ruka…

First Time At Blink, Johannes Klaebo Puts On Display His Brutally Effective Downhill Technique

Newsfeed
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, the most decorated male skier of our times, shall also be remembered for decades to come as someone who revolutionized the technique. His trademark " diagonal uphill running" is now being emulated even by 12 year olds - to chagrine of ski purists. The true world class athletes, however, are trying to master less obvious but oh-so-brutally effective way the 23 year old Norwegian goes downhill, winning himself meters and split seconds with each move. On Friday Klaebo has shown that it's not about how good his snow skis are waxed - it's all in technique. Competing at Blink Skifest Sprint for the first time, he gave the opposition no chance on downhills - and that was a joy fo watch. Photo is courtesy of Rune Helliesen/…

Fossesholm Is True Star-In-Making. Why Is She Allowed To Put Her Life At Risk?

Newsfeed, Trivia
Helene Fossesholm is a huge talent - something she just proven coming 3d in the Blink's Lysebotn uphill. But why is she allowed to bungee jump?! https://www.instagram.com/p/CDZWKMjp-Z6/?igshid=1vavkc7pjzd9z You would argue that nobody could prevent a legally grown-up, 19 year old woman from doing what she wants to do. Yeah, sure. Nobody could stop, say, Rob Gronkowski either. Except it in his contract with the club it clearly says " No taking part or engaging in any activity other than football which may involve a significant risk of personal injury.” With a similar or even more explicit language present in most ( probably all - but we can't be certain) contracts in serious professional sports. Sure, Gronk makes a cool $9 mil./ year - the territory best skiers haven't quite made…

At Least One Rollerski Maker Is Willing To Answer Most Indecent Question In Industry!

Newsfeed
....The most indecent question one could ask a rollerski maker is "who supplies your wheels?" Answers often range from evasive to almost mythical - by same very people, who are happy to extol the virtue of their respective frame constructions in minute detail. No blame - in business one often has to choose effective solutions rather than technologically appealing. Still, transparency is a factor and there are , luckily, exceptions among manufacturers. At SRB you get a straightforward answer: "When it comes to our Premium line, hubs we forge here, at Zella-Mehlis, while the rubber comes from Continental tyre maker and the molding is done at their facility not far from here in Magdeburg " . Well, now you know!

Johaug Sets World’s Best Time On 10k. In Athletics

Newsfeed
She's done it! Therese Johaug's 10000m run was billed as the headline event at the Impossible Games in Olso ( normally known as the Bislett Games) The reigning FIS World Cup winner did not disappoint: running alone on the empty stadium she stopped the clock at 31.40.69. That's the best result in the world this year so far - well, with not many athletics competitions happening at the times of Coronavirus. That's also better than qualifying time for the Athletics World Championships (31.50), but worse than the one for the Olympics (31.25). In comparison, the great Norwegian Ingrid Kristianssen once set her then-world record at the same stadium: 30:13.74 . That was in 1986. The current WR is held by Almaz Ayana: 29:17.45 One important note: all the records at…
