The announcement of the most awaited decision of this year was postponed – again. The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne will not make make public its decision on Therese Johaug's case this Friday as was widely expected – Tuesday next week is a new target date. No reason for postponement was given. At stake is participation of one the world's strongest – and by far the best paid – skiers in the Olympic Games in Korea next year. Johaug tested positive for the anabolic steroid Clostebol September, 16 last year. She explained that she used the cream, given her my team's doctor ( Trofodermin) on a sunburned lip while training in Italy at the beginning of September last year – unintentionally, not knowing it contains banned doping substance.…

CAS ( Finally) Issues Verdict on Suspended Russian Skiers

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne has issued a verdict in the arbitration procedures involving six top Russian cross country skiers – Sochi 2014 Olympic champion Alexander Legkov, Falun 2015 World champion Maxim Vylegzhanin as well as Alexey Petukhov, Evgenia Shapovalova, Evgeniy Belov and Julia Ivanova . The decision reads as a big compromise: The CAS have decided to maintain the provisional suspensions imposed on the athletes until 31 October 2017, at the latest. However, "in the absence of any anti-doping rule violation having been assessed against any of the athletes so far, the temporary suspension shall lapse and the athletes shall be allowed to compete again" Yelena Vyalbe, President of the Russian Cross-Country Ski Association, has already reacted on the CAS verdict by saying that all…

Video of Therese Johaug Training in Sjusjøen Appears Online

Therese Johaug wants everybody to know that she is training very, very hard for her comeback next season. Johaug's trainer, Pål Gunnar Mikkelsplass, told the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet this week that Therese has become physically much stronger, both in upper body core and leg muscles. At 1.62 m and 46 kg, the Norwegian was indomitable throughout her skiing career on hilly terrain, while losing to competition on flat stretches of the trail.
