Max Volkov Will Coach Chinese Skiers

Max Volkov, ex-assistant coach of Yuri Borodavko at Team Russia, will coach the Chinese national team. Volkov is well known in the international skiing circles - not the least as a " Voice of Bolshunov " as he was often seen helping media to interpret for the Russian great ( who consistently refuses to learn English). Volkov will have to undergo the planet's most stringent quarantine before joining his new team in May. He will join there Nikita Kryukov, the Olympic champion of Vancouver , who is a trainer of the Chinese sprinters.

Pellegrino, De Fabiani To Train With Cramer At Team Russia

Federico Pellegrino and Francesco De Fabiani will join the training group led by Markus Cramer at Team Russia. The group is led by the German coach contains more seasoned male Russian skiers: Gleb Retivykh, 29, Artem Maltsev, 27, Evgeniy Belov, 30, and, of course Sergey Ustiugov who just turned 29. Pellegrino, 30 and De Fabiani,27 will fit right in. The group also contains an extremely strong 2d coach/ squire Sergey Turyshev who sets the training tempo & leads by example. The training agreement was officiated by the special agreement signed by the Italian and Russian ski federations. Two Italians are highly unlikely to see Siberia or even set foot in Russia: most of the training in the Cramer Group is done in the Alps or Scandinavia, Covid situation allowing.

Unlike other brilliant Juniors, Helene Fossesholm and Veronika Stepanova, who were on the radar for the last couple of years, Evgeniya Krupitskaya, who is year younger, came seemingly from nowhere. But she is surely there to stay: two silver medals at the Junior World Championships plus a 4th place ( a third medal was very close!), a successful debut in the World Cup in Engadin and very respectful performance at the Russian Nationals.
