Johannes Høsflot Klæbo will not compete in the World Cup the remainder of this year.
“I feel that skiing and competitions are not important compared to the pandemic that is now raging in the world,” the current World Cup leader says in the statement
At the earliest, he is back in the World Cup when the Tour de Ski begins on New Year’s Day.
Klaebo, 24, has long said travelling in Europe in the middle of the current health crisis is dangerous and that he would decide whether to compete on case-by-case basis.
“Everyone has to do their part – this is important and right for me to do”
