Czech Team On Ascend

Czech Team On Ascend

We all remember the times when Kateřina Neumannová used to be among the best in the world. We also are well aware that since then the Czech Czech xcskiing ( or, specifically, female part of it) is kind of faded away from the world stage. The podium drought might be finally coming to an end. Katerina Razymova had a fantastic 2019/20 season, time and again finishing in Top 10 in the World Cup distance races and Katerina Janatova is among the world best U23s while others show sign of progress. We caught up with Běžecké Lyžování at their training camp in Nove Mesto Na Morave - where the FIS World Cup stage was held last season ( and the biathlon one is held regularly) [caption id="attachment_16078" align="alignnone" width="1803"] Jan Franc…

2020 – Year Of Carbon Fiber Rollerskis? More Great CF Models Than Ever But Not Everyone Is Convinced

Gear News, Newsfeed
Fischer just unveiled the pair the Austrian company calls " world's lightest classic rollerskis" https://youtu.be/w-MmYzf0X6g Which means they are at least a little bit lighter than the Swix model that hit the market last year, somewhat ahead of the pack. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAnr8yzHhtO/?igshid=1bkrho69l59t8 "The pack" because never before was the market so saturated with the true carbon fiber monocoque rollerskis offers: Established players roll out their first CF models https://www.instagram.com/p/CBYpPAEJkDV/?igshid=fe2e361269n4 New players are entering the market - obviously, sensing some business opportunities. https://www.instagram.com/p/CA7_Gn9J6YV/?igshid=1fwcr5ehpedwc The end of metal alloy rollerskis is nay? Not so fast, says Morten Iversbakken, the marketing manager of IDT Sports. Everyone remembers, of course, that the Norwegian company sponsors by far the most top teams/ individual skiers in the world of xcskiing (but not biathlon - that's still largely the…

Johaug As Role Model Outside Tracks Too

Johaug As Role Model Outside Tracks Too

Money & Finance, Newsfeed
Therese Johaug is reigning over her opponents not only on ski tracks - but in financial races too. The latest accounting report from Setra AS shows that the company earnings are up 17 per cent last year from NOK 6.22 million to NOK 7.26 million, pre-tax. ( 1mln NOK is roughly 93k euros) You, naturally, remember, that Setra AS is the firm through which the Olympic champion channels her earnings outside the ski tracks e.g. dividends, advertising and appearance fees etc. etc. - ski-related income such as the World Cup podium money are separate. [caption id="attachment_16039" align="alignnone" width="1920"] Two of the most successful skiers ever, both on and outside the tracks, have much business to discuss [/caption] To put it bluntly, the world's best skier of the last seasons effectively…

Defying Conventions: Skier Who Runs & Wins In Non-Carbon Sole Boots

Gear News, Leaders, Newsfeed
Control, stability and efficient power transfer. That's what top boots give skier and that's why all gearmakers had to dig into complicated and expensive carbon-fiber technology in the last few years. We can't stop extolling virtues of top boots for skiers of all levels. Yet there are some top skiers who are not altogether or not always seduced by them carbon soles. Alayna Sonnesyn of Team USA is the World Cup-class skier who actively alternates between top model and 2d-line plastic sole/ carbon cuff one while racing. In her case, X-IUM Carbon Premium Skate and X-IUM WC Skate In 2019 she won the American Birkebeiner race - yes, wearing those X-IUM WC Skate https://www.instagram.com/p/BuSGeqzBeEC/?igshid=1v54bfgf70w8m We got in touch with Alayna with traditional What gives? Here's what she told us: The…

Swenor Upping Ante

Swenor Upping Ante

Gear News, Newsfeed
Pictures of the new flagship Swenor rollerskis have started to appear on webpages of the Norwegian company's dealers. And guess what?! They are carbon-fiber monocoque! Just to remind you,the French word means a construction where the outer skin carries all the stresses. Carbon monocoque rollerskis are not altogether new - some 10 years ago boutique shops - Italian Globulonero and Spanish Quionne - were the first on the market with them. The monocoque construction immediately found its fans but failed to capture a significant slice of the pro-market. We reckon, because of the lack of sufficient promo-budgets (although Globulonero was sponsoring the Italian national team for several seasons). Well, now the big guys have decided to join in that full-carbonskis party. Last year Swix presented their vision - called Triac,…
