Introducing My Sponsor: Hailey Swirbul And Odin Recreation

Money & Finance, Newsfeed
Hailey Swirbul, US Ski Team, tells about her personal sponsor: My connection with the small mountain town of Mesa, Colorado-home to Odin Recreation-leads us to the very beginning of my cross-country skiing career. It was on the nearby Nordic trails where I skate-skied for the very first time and in the main lodge where my team and I lived for a training camp every November for the next 7 years. It has been an honor to partner with Odin as my headgear sponsor and carry that piece of my identity with me around the world this winter. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7udoP4Jku_/?igshid=bd91vak4d19t Odin Recreation is a local ski/ outdoor gear shop with a lot of enthusiasm for getting people of all ages outside. They offer gear rentals for skis, snowshoes, sleds, etc., ski lessons,…

Hard To Believe But FIS Congress In Thailand Still Not Cancelled

Hard To Believe But FIS Congress In Thailand Still Not Cancelled

Leaders, Newsfeed
Yes, the International Ski Federation Congress in Pattaya, Thailand due to kick off in 8 weeks is still on. Possibly, the last international event with 1000+ participants in the foreseeable future. It might be just a formality - yet still the fact worth noting and, some would say, symbolic. It was meant to be a special one: after 22 years as the FIS President Gian-Franco Kasper was going to retire with the Congress choosing his replacement. A new boss of international snow sports would only become fifth helmsman in more than a century of the FIS existence. As late as last week Kasper still insisted the Congress and, therefore election of his replacement would go on, but the world has changed massively since. Looking at the situation with corona pandemics at…

Introducing My Sponsor: Katharina Hennig And Nudossi

Word of introduction: Top flight skiers all got sponsors - and their logos grace their racing suits and warm-up clothing. The most prestigious place is, arguably, the one on headgear - at the risk of stating the obvious, that what's gets to be seen the most on TV. The Scandinavians and the Russians firmly reserve that place for the team's overall top sponsor, so all the skiers wear identical hats and headbands. The " Continentals" and the North Americans have different traditions - that's the place reserved for an athlete's individual sponsor. Allow us to be blunt: in these trying times for many a business, we want that relationship between skiers and their sponsors to endure. One way for us to assist would be by providing our platform for athletes to…

New Day – New Strava Record. And By Whom!

With season's abrupt early end Norwegian skiers have a lot of capacity left, clearly. Some of them are now engaged in what looks like Citius, Altius, Fortius competition. Or, at least, Amplius or " longer". Enter Joar Thele. https://www.instagram.com/p/B6YqI31p2Fe/?igshid=1xi55guqnfs3o Thele, 26, runs for Team Ragde Eiendom and twice finished 11th in Vasaloppet - in 2019 and 2020. The 204k sessoon his Lyn clubmate and world champion in 50k Hans Christer Holund clocked last weekend, clearly felt somewhat underwhelming for a long distance pro. So he did 321. That's three hundred twenty one - read it slowly. In 18 hours, with elevation gain of some 3000m at the pace most of us would consider to be competition-worth ? You think that's impressive? Wait till you learn who was Thele's company on…

Gus Schumacher, 2020 Junior World Champion – Interview You’d Want To Read

Leaders, Newsfeed
Honestly, we do not think Gus Schumacher needs long introductions. A 19 year old from Anchorage, Alaska is a true leader of the extremely talented crop of US Juniors that collectively holds the best promise of breaking that Norwegian-Russian duopoly in male skiing - in a few years. We talked to the double gold medalist of the recent FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships with one big question in mind: when does he think he will start taking on Klaebo and Bolshunov & what's needed to make it happen? You are the first American to win a gold medal in an individual race at the World Juniors. What does it say about the relative strength of the youth ski system the US? - I think this first individual gold by…
